Time to start a death pool for Newsweek

Yes it's a two wanker day. Newsweek completes its transition to GOP fluffer and Howard Fineman at the newly remessaged rag is concern trolling about 'teh Establisment's' growing disaffection for Obama's policies. ZOMG! He's not playing by the Villagers' rules. Howie lists the ways and warns:
Other than all that, in the eyes of the big shots, he is doing fine. The American people remain on his side, but he has to be careful that the gathering judgment of the Bigs doesn't trickle down to the rest of us.

(Sardonic laughter.) Fineman should worry the disdain of "the rest of us" doesn't bubble up to take him down. The early results on the "grade Obama's first 50 days" poll, speak for themselves. Over 31% give him an A, and adding B-D, well ahead of F.

Perhaps Fineman and his masters at Newsweek, should be looking at this grade. Apparently the GOP fluffer business model isn't selling that well these days. Politico's impending fate could be soon be their own.

Update: Interesting. The total votes have more than doubled since I posted this yesterday. The "F" vote is now leading and has increased the two times I checked, yet the "A" "B" and "C" vote percentages didn't change at all and the "F" vote seems to have drawn its rise from the "D". Odd, I've never seen a poll behave in quite that manner. But even if such an odd result is real, it still sounds the death knell for Newsweek. Clearly, the only ones interested in what Fineman has to say at this point are the deadenders of the GOP base. That crowd won't pay for the pleasure of freeping a poll when Newsweek goes to a pay model.

I used to like Howard Fineman. I guess he's alright now, but he wanders over into stupidity too often.

I love Johnathan Alter though, so I can't give up on Newsweek yet.

Newsweek is changing their focus. They're going to a pay model and catering to wingers. Count on them dying soon. Along with Politico apparently.

But by all means enjoy them while you can Brian.

I'm not giving up either, although they always did try to be so fair and balanced that they won't give any devil his due.

The current article is given over to why Rush is bad for everyone and although It doesn't call for his public disembowelment, as I would prefer, it's a start and long past time.

Righty blogger Don Surber thinks Instahack got the bad grade totals up.

I'm thinking the left blogosphere needs to revive Atrios's old practice of urging people to vote in these polls, just because the press will cite them even though they're unscientific and the righties will skew them even if we don't.

Fogg, if they go through with the plan to become a right wing mouthpiece, there won't be much reason to read it, but again, enjoy while you can.

Steve, I suspected a freep by the wingers. You're brave to read those guys. We probably should try to out freep them but I'm not so sure they're going to live long enough to make it worth the effort.

Interesting. I broke down and looked at Surber's link. Their results were at about 88,000 responses and had 58% F. When I first clocked in it was at about 125,000 responses and F was at about 30%. Now with double that, it's still 31% A and 36% F. The B grade has been consistent the whole time. Weird. Maybe I'll leave the link at the couple of places, just to test the algorithum.
