Idle threats from the rich
Shocking news. Selfish high income makers will try to find ways to avoid a tax increase so their money doesn't go to 'undeserving' poor people. As if they weren't already looking for every trick in the book to minimize their tax payments already. I mean, who tries to maximize their tax payments -- ever?
These idle threats that they'll stop trying so hard to make money is just so much bullshit. If you're just at the $250,000 mark, maybe it even makes sense to cut back to $249,999 but I'm betting these people make significantly more than that and after a certain income, it's not about needing money to survive, it's about the status and power that money provides. I doubt they really are that willing to give up the income.
And if they did, it might not be such a bad thing. They could spend more time with their kids, who often suffer from as much neglect due to parental workoholism as poor kids do from parents who must be absent because their parents need to work three jobs just to put food on the table.

These indignities are so stupid! We should ALL be paying a fair share of taxes so that our government can run, repair an ever deteriorating infrastructure, help fund research,and yes, feed the poor, provide scholarships...
Maybe if the greedy bastards had been paying their fair share all along, the country would not be in quite such a mess!
When someone wants to reap all the benefits without paying for any of it - I think it's called "entitlement" and not all those getting entitlements are on welfare!
Bush was all about welfare for the rich Rocky. They're missing it now and they're pissed.
