Vanity Fair nudges New Yorker

By Libby

I swore I wasn't going to say another word about the New Yorker cover, but Vanity Fair posts a response that's just too tempting to share. They repeat the meme with a snarky little piece showing the cover they allegedly had in the works but pulled because of the kerfluffle over their competitor's art.

As you can see they used the same imagery, and it works as snark, but it's still not funny. At least it didn't make me laugh. The prescription bill bottles instead of the gun. The constitution instead of the flag. The walker instead of the outfit, all that stuff worked, except the fist bump. It would have been much more amusing, and relevant, if they had showed Cindy handing him cash instead.

Or perhaps they could have shown him standing on the neck of a wounded vet as he tries to crawl into a VA hospital. For anyone to think that McCain offers the very best hope for the return and survival of American integrity and respect just proves how misguided, even traitorous the ultra conservatives really are.

As long as Americans believe everything they see on TV, which they do, and refuse to value other cultures and peoples, the path of this once great nation will only lead to loss of international influence and destruction.

The Bill of Rights in the fire is a nice touch, though.

Brian, people just don't pay attention and get fooled by the hype I think. Some of those people are in my family, so I know they're not all bad.

Kev, I thought that was a nice touch too. By the way you're rocking out in the comment section at DetNews lately. I appreciate the friendly voice over there.
