RNC hanky panky
News from the Underground breaks this story. The Republican National Committee paid $8.3 million to a firm called Sproul & Associates, run by Nathan Sproul, former head of the Arizona Christian Coalition and the Arizona Republican Party.
The money was purportedly for "voter registration and political consulting" and the related expenses however, Sproul was caught up its elbows in dirty tricks, including altering and destroying Democratic voter registration forms. They worked in eight swing states and continued to receive RNC payola for months after the election, well into 2005.
Considering the considerable finagling of dates in their ongoing revised expense reports, the FEC has an obligation to the public to investigate the RNC's books and to determine the specific activities financed by these funds.
