Nico, my hero

Nico responds to this morning's CNN segment that had me so riled up earlier, and confirms that Milbank did indeed call him a dick and follows up with citations to the points he made about Dana's "reporting." I can't believe I missed Milbank's orginal in-depth report on this gravely serious matter.
The circle of reporters who actually did the work of following up on the People Magazine picture of Obama in his trunks includes only myself and Dana Milbank of The Washington Post.

We cornered Obama outside the Senate radio-TV gallery after a press conference. Milbank asked a few leading questions and we both wrote columns based on his reply that ran the next day. Between the Chicago Sun-Times running the Obama photo on the front page hyping my column and the reach of The Washington Post, the attention inspired other outlets to do derivative feature stories. Of course, it also made great gab for the cable news shows.
As Nico said in the clip. Pathetic. Seriously pathetic.

"Legitimate reporters"? "Mainstream Media"? Hey, turn on your tee-vee machine. Any news from our opium fields in Afghanistan? Ever a word about the real reason we're there, a Central Asia to Arabian Sea gas pipeline? Any hard-driving reports on civilian casualties, and their effect on Afghan popular support for the U.S. occupation? No, hunh?

You'd have to go to the BLOGS for that! You know, those DFH's in their pajama's scurrilously slandering the Real Important People Who Actually Matter, like the "MSM" journo's themselves?

The formerly mainstream media are too busy with missing white kids, homophobic white beauty queens, and the death of a child-molesting white-girl-wannabee "pop-star." TRY getting away from THAT this weekend. Iran? Oh, um, yeah, sure. (So last week.)

It ain't about "business models," or "style," it's about the complete lack of substance and the endless fluff & corporate BS that even some conservatards are getting tired of. At some point, you need some actual DATA to make decisions. And we all know we can't get that from the MSM, nor can we trust their pre-digested opinions and pre-determined decisions on our behalf.

Let the News Nets & big rags die out, and let bloggers and guerrilla journalists take over the rusting infrastructure of our media, like electronic squatters. The corporatista's no longer serve any "legitimate" function, if they ever did.

I'm all for letting the MSM outlets die. They don't serve any useful function anymore.

And great post. Love the lineup of youtubes.
