Guess I'm just weird

The whole poli-junkie world is obsessed with the convention and I just don't care what Hillary's supporters are going to do. I don't care what the blathering teevee pundits think about the horserace. I don't care what the blithering print pundits think about anything. I'm sitting here worrying about what the White House has in mind for the October surprise. I have a bad feeling about it already.

I agree Libby. Something big is going to happen and I expect it will be designed to instill even more fear into the population. Fear works and the repubs and White House know that and use it effectively.

Of course, if it were to involve another attack within our shores, Bush would have to explain how that could happen given the tremendous amount of money he has spent on security to stop it.

I don't think it will be designed to make the Repubs look great. They know they don't have the credibility for that. So it will have to make the Dems look very bad/weak/corrupt/deviant/etc.

Whatever it is Brian, it's likely not to be in the best interests of our country. It will be to try to trick the voters into voting GOP again.

yup, no doubt about that. And it will probably be successful given the gullibility of our neighbors.

By the way, I have a new trek up.

I don't think a scorched earth scenario is beyond George's imagination at all, whether or not he thinks McCain will win or even wants him to win.

Even so, a clever George might just pull out of Iraq precipitously and do what he can to make that country collapse so 4 years from now the Republicans can say "told you so" and offer Jeb as the hero for another dark "morning in America"

Hey Brian. I'll go check out your trek. I could use some relief from dark imaginings.

Fogg, the possibilities are endless. That one would be less odious than some that roil through my mind. I'm afraid they're going to drop a nuke on somebody and really start the next big war.

I still haven't discounted the possibility they might engineer a "terrorist attack" here in order to declare martial law before the elections.
