Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming. . .

I'm told the area is now covered with buildings. Nobody seems to care. Not much has changes. The same slogans, the same tin-horn patriotism, the same witch hunts. It's all the same war and it will go on forever. If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever.

Not a pretty picture Fogg, but all too accurate.

I have to agree with Fogg, too. As we slip further and further down the path of facsism, even the most nonviolent protests against anything the government does will be met with brutal force. I fear that, regardless of who ends up in the white house, our long held and fought for liberties are a thing of the past.

I can't disagree Brian considering that the Dems did nothing to stop them all these years. One can only surmise they want the same powers for themselves.

Yeah, Fascism's a'comin to the USA all right. Just read Jonah Goldberg's new book. Funny, though, when you read it, it turns out your side is the fascist one. Hmmmmmmm?

I guess you think you're being witty and scathing or trenchant or caustic or something like that. I'm not sure what you mean by "your side" but I'm quite sure you have no idea what Fascism is.

If you think George Bush's administration doesn't depend on exaggerated patriotism and exaggerated dangers from foreign entities, doesn't project government power into nearly all aspects of private life and isn't in collusion with industry, then you're an idiot, or perhaps you do and you're just a liar, but you certainly lack the talent, the knowledge and the wit to be a gadfly.

Fascism prospered in the 1930s, here and abroad through making the disaffected, the marginalized and the underachievers feel they were being persecuted and that their ideas were really not petty, stupid and ill informed. I guess they've hooked you too, tricky, dickey fish that you are, but what can one expect by someone so full of hatred and resentment about your own mediocrity that he would credit Goldberg's piece of political, self contradictory shit and go out hunting for scapegoats.

Go stick a gun in your mouth and end it.

Fogg, all that anger so wasted on me. You know, if you had been two or three generations older, you could have channeled all that anger and been a hilarious performer on Vaudeville.

Have you read Goldberg's book?

Dick, it's a well known fact that reading Dough Boy lowers your IQ by 50 points. For the love of God, don't reread the book or you'll start believing everything his mommy says too.

Ah - the anger gambit again. It's a small repertoire you have, old Dick.

Yeah, I've read enough of it and I've seen the idiot on talk shows. War is peace, freedom is slavery, love is hate and Liberals are fascists.

He invents straw men and tears them down hoping you'll not see how unrelated his creation is to reality. That's SOP in the genre and the genre is tailored to fuel the prejudice of the lumpenproletariat. Ever read Mein Kampf? It sold a lot more copies than your example of Orwellian antinomy.

That's the trouble with people who read a book. They rarely agree with the people who read many books.
