Equivocating Joe

By Libby

Well whoop-de-doo. Lieberman waves his little stick and threatens for the billionth time to back the GOP candidate in 08. Why is this even news? Who the hell cares what Lieberman is going to do? It's been long apparent that he's switched to their side when his own party rejected him during the last primary.

His co-dependence on the Republicans couldn't be more obvious. He owes his seat to the GOP who abandoned their own candidate to not so surrepitiously support him and his adoration for Bush is beyond embarrassing.

Joe is like that old lover that keeps showing up at your doorstep looking for a free meal and some quick sex long after the affair is over because he doesn't want to commit to a relationship but he's just afraid to let go and move on. The Democrats should never have caucused with him in the first place. He's voted against the party's position just about every time and he does nothing but undermine Democrats in general. Frankly, I'm thinking he's hoping to ingratiate himself to the GOP knuckledraggers currently running in order to get a Veep slot.

Since Joe can't make up his mind what he is, the Democrats should help him make up his tiny little mind. Kick him out of the caucus and take away his committee seniority. That would be news, not to mention a boon to the Democratic party.

that the republicans would embrace a guy who is pro late trimester abortion, pro open borders, pro gay marriage, for big government, high taxes BUT for the war speaks volumes about their alleged integrity.

You can't kick him out of the caucus, because if he goes over to the R's, it's a 50-50 split and the Dark Knight -- Cheney -- casts the tie-breaker for organizing the Senate. Pat Leahy becomes a powerless ranking member, for example, rather than a chairman.

You know what RP, I've thought of that but in essence, Holy Joe is the shadow Cheney anyway. The end result is the same. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the short term advantage for the long term outcome. I'm thinking it's better to force Cheney into the open. The press could not ignore that. Let the people see what he's doing. It might help to get him impeached, which I think is more urgent than anything else the Congress could do at this point.
